Porphyry is a geologic treasure, born from the volcanic forces of the earth, celebrated for its exceptional beauty and unyielding strength. It throws a striking reddish-brown hue, adorned with white or grey crystals.

Stone Society worked alongside Landbuild and Studio Esteta to install around 140m2 of porphyry paving at a recently completed renovation on Mt. Buninyong. Being able to openly communicate with the builders, architects and clients ensured that the end result was beautiful and functional, built with intention and executed to the highest standards.

Installed as ‘random paving’, each piece is laid within the design parameters set out by Studio Esteta and Stone Society to achieve a natural, flowing style of stonework.

Mortar joints move between 15 and 25mm, allowing the stone to roll together naturally, complimenting the beautiful established gardens and mountainous surrounds.
